The subscription fee ensures every member’s ID is verified using Paypal or Credit Card before they are allowed to bid. This way we stop users registering two accounts to artificially inflate prices with bids that then "Price the item out of the market".

You can be a registered member without paying a fee, but access to bid on items will be denied.
